Shiva Guide Training: Boston (option 2)
Have you ever thought about supporting people during one of the most important and sensitive times in their lives? After the death of a loved one, many people want the comfort of Jewish rituals like shiva — but they aren’t sure how, or perhaps they don’t have the support network they need to make it happen.
You can help. Shiva Circle will train you to be a trusted resource when a death happens. By training volunteers – like you – to become Shiva Guides, we’re making the ritual of shiva more accessible and helping more people feel held by Jewish tradition and community.
At this one-day, in-person training you will:
Deepen your knowledge of Jewish mourning traditions (no experience necessary!)
Explore how to create circles of support so no mourners have to grieve alone
Build relationships with a community of volunteer Shiva Guides
After the training, you’ll be ready to guide people in your own networks, or in the greater Boston Jewish community when they are mourning. And the Shiva Circle team will be here to help – with accessible resources and lots of opportunities to ask questions.
Special thanks to our local sponsors, Stanetsky Memorial Chapels and Brezniak Funeral Directors.
Date: Sunday, December 8
Time: 10:00am - 3:30pm
Location: Temple B'nai Abraham in Beverly
Note: A duplicate training opportunity is being held December 7 at Mayyim Hayyim.
