It’s not always easy to make Shiva happen…

Shiva Circle can help.

What is Shiva?

“Shiva” means seven in Hebrew, as in the Jewish tradition of seven days of mourning, starting after returning home from the funeral.

During shiva, mourners remain home while family, friends and neighbors take care of our basic needs and offer comfort. By taking a week away from our regular lives, we feel less alone in our grief and connect with community.

"Shiva was the time I heard all the stories I didn't know. People showed up and took care of me so that I wasn't isolated. It was one of the most meaningful experiences we ever had.”

-S., who sat shiva with her children and family when her husband died
